An opportunity has arisen for a highly effective and inspirational Exams Officer to join our team. John Hanson Community School is a successful, over-subscribed 11-16 community school, rated Good by OFSTED.

The examinations officer is responsible for the organisation and smooth running of both internal and external examinations. The officer acts as the primary liaison between the school and external examination bodies. They will be familiar with the requirements and regulations placed on schools by both awarding bodies and the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), and will ensure that the school is compliant with these before, during, and after examination periods.
Key duties include:
- Exam Management: Planning and overseeing the scheduling, invigilation, and logistics of exams.
- Compliance: Ensuring all examination procedures adhere to JCQ regulations and guidelines.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of student entries, results, and other exam-related data.
- Communication: Acting as the primary point of contact for exam boards, staff, students, and parents.
- Support: Assisting with the preparation and distribution of exam materials and results.
- Management: Recruit, train and manage invigilators as required
Key Requirements
- Prior experience in exam administration or within a school/education setting (desirable).
- Relevant qualifications and experience in exam administration (desirable).
- Experience managing or supervising others (e.g. exam invigilators or administrative staff).
- Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills.
High attention to detail, organisation, ability to work under pressure, and proactive problem-solving skills.

Location and History
John Hanson Community School is a thriving, mixed gender 11-16 community school in South West Andover, Hampshire, with almost 1000 students. The school has a rich history, dating back to 1582, and was previously known as Andover Free School and Andover Grammar School. In 1974 the school was renamed John Hanson School in honour of its founder, and moved to the current site on Floral Way in 2001.
