About this role
The St Bart's Multi Academy Trust, in partnership with Governors, staff and children of Abbey Hill Academy and College are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our hard working and committed team.

The Role:
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for an Expert Teacher to shape the educational journey of approximately 20 pupils within our Hub provision. The Hub provision consists of two classrooms catering for KS3 and KS4 pupils, specifically focused on developing the children's life skills, independence, and communication skills. You will play a pivotal role in driving excellence in teaching and learning within this context, fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment, and empowering our pupils to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential in these crucial areas.
You will be responsible for a team of support staff, including senior practitioners, and work collaboratively with school leaders who are committed to your success and the growth of our pupils. This role offers the chance to make a profound and lasting impact on the lives of our pupils and contribute to our school’s success
Key Responsibilities
- Make a distinctive contribution to raising standards across the school
- Support and help colleagues to improve effectiveness
- Set clear and challenging targets that build on prior attainment for each pupil
- Act as a role model for staff for high-quality teaching and learning
- Ensure continuity and progression in teaching and learning
- Provide regular coaching and mentoring for less experienced staff
- Enable all support staff to achieve expertise in planning and teaching
- Help colleagues create a stimulating learning environment
- Ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their potential
- Develop effective links with the local community
Requirement:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- A proven track record of outstanding teaching
- Extensive knowledge of assessment requirements and arrangement
- Up-to-date knowledge of different types of qualifications and specifications, such as ASDAN
- A deep understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning, and behaviour management strategies
- Able to utilise a range of communication strategies to support learners’ understanding and access to the curriculum (eg Makaton; PECS; AAC; Assistive Technology)
- Strong subject/curriculum knowledge and related pedagogy
- Flexibility, creativity, and the ability to design effective learning sequences
- The ability to contribute to the professional development of colleagues
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to the inclusion of every pupil
- The ability to work collaboratively with parents/carers and other stakeholders
