What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an inspirational and enthusiastic EYFS Lead who will initially join our Management Team on a fixed term of 4 terms (until July 2024) on a TLR3 with a view to extending that TLR and membership of the SLT if the first 4 terms are a success.

The successful candidate will have a clear vision for the delivery of the EYFS curriculum and demonstrate an ability to use research-based evidence to inform and reflect upon practice.

The successful candidate will also:

  • Have an excellent understanding of the importance of the development of early reading and writing;
  • Have a secure knowledge of the teaching and learning of phonics and strategies to encourage rich language acquisition;
  • Demonstrate innovative approaches to making the transition between Reception and Year 1 a success;
  • Support the EYFS team to make sound judgements about their pupil’s learning;
  • Have a range of ideas for engaging parents with the life of the school and their children’s learning;
  • Be keen to develop and grow leadership skills through the role;
  • Be an inspirational and creative teacher with the ability to motivate all children to achieve their best;
  • Have high aspirations for all children rooted in the belief that every child has the potential to succeed;
  • Have energy, enthusiasm and a sense of humour;
  • Be committed to collaborative working, leading and motivating a team;
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to work as part of a supportive and enthusiastic team.
