EYFS Learning Support Assistants for SEN Pupils job summary

St Ursula's E-ACT Academy are looking for 2 full time Learning Support Assistants to assist SEN pupils in EYFS who have previously had one to one support in their nursery setting.


We know just how important it is to think big and to help break those glass ceilings faced by young people today. Together we can encourage our pupils to step out from their comfort zones, build self-esteem and broaden their horizons. Keen to challenge young people with opportunities they may not even know exists yet? We aim to raise pupils’ aspirations so they begin to believe in themselves and understand that there is no thing holding them back, including where they happen to live or their family’s experience in education.

We are looking for 2 Learning Support Assistants to provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEN needs within our EYFS group who have previously had one to one support in their previously nursery setting.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of working in a EYFS class setting
  • Have a working knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and its assessment;
  • Able to inspire and support children to become active, independent thinkers and learners.
  • Able to understand and be sensitive to the needs of very young children.
  • Committed to high standards of early years classroom practice.
  • Able to positively promote inclusion and have high expectations for all children.
  • Be expected to meet with parents to provide feedback on the pupil’s progression as a key worker
  • Demonstrable knowledge of how children learn and how to motivate them
  • Demonstrable knowledge of strategies for spelling, reading, speech & language and number skills
  • Experience of working with children who have complex needs, including behaviour
  • Relevant qualifications for the role (TA2 certificate or equivalent, and Maths/English GCSEs grades A-C).

There are 2 contracts on offer and both full time (08:30 - 15:30 Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays and 08:30 - 16:30 on Thursdays, 33.5 hours per week) and are fixed term rolling contracts. We are looking for the successful candidates to commence employment as soon as onboarding processes are complete. The salary range for the role ranges from scale point 5 - 7 (£15,577.51 - £16,206.95 actual salary, £19,650 - £20,444 full time equivalent).
