EYFS Teacher job summary

We are looking for an excellent practitioner to teach in our EYFS setting from September 2025. Initially the post will be for one year as it will be covering a secondment, although there will be probable career development opportunities either within St Francis or our expanding Trust beyond that date.

You will need to be an excellent practitioner, who is totally committed to making a difference to our children’s learning.

You must have a sound knowledge and understanding of planning, delivering and assessing the EYFS curriculum, rooted in up to date pedagogical theory. You will work closely with the parallel EYFS class teacher and be supported by an experienced team of teaching assistants.

You do not need to be Catholic to apply but you do need to proactively support our Catholic ethos and curriculum. Support and training can be given if needed. More information about how our mission, aims and values underpin our curriculum can be found on our website.

If you are dynamic, open to trying new things and have a Growth Mindset then we are keen for you to apply. Applications from ECTs are welcome as the school and Trust have a strong history of effectively supporting early career development.

You are warmly invited to visit the school (visits can be arranged between 7:30am and 6:30pm) or you can telephone the Headteacher or Assistant Headteacher, who will be pleased to discuss the post in more detail.

Applications close on the 16th May with interviews being held on Friday 23rd. The interview process will include teaching a phonics session and leading a small-group activity. You will be asked to complete an observation of a child based on the ‘Characteristics of Effective Learning’.

Commitment to safeguarding

Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.
