EYFS Teaching Assistant job summary
Lace Hill Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment checks including: an enhanced DBS check, references and the right to work in the UK. CVs will not be accepted for any posts based in schools.
Teaching and Learning
- To promote learning and have an understanding of the curriculum appropriate for the relevant phase
- To be responsible for supporting children during lessons on a one to one basis and in small groups including administering some SEN provision as required
- To assist with the planning and delivery of the daily programme of activities and events
- To contribute to the assessment of children’s progress
- Knowledge of some intervention schemes would be an advantage but is not essential
- To help to maintain a well organised, tidy, pupil friendly and interactive learning environment and maintain a high standard of displays, consistent with the Lace Hill EYFS curriculum.
Be responsible for home school liaison including parents’ evenings, home visits, online learning journals and annual reports
Pastoral and Wellbeing:
- To demonstrate an instinctive awareness of children’s wellbeing and promote and safeguard the welfare of all pupils maintaining a constant awareness of all issues relating to child protection
- To play a full part in promoting high standards of positive behaviour and to maintain the behaviour policy across all areas of the Academy
- To support children at lunchtime whilst they eat and then promote positive behaviour on the playground
General:
- To act as a positive role model, to promote teamwork, work flexibly and ensure a high quality of teaching and learning and effective working relations using initiative as appropriate
- To be willing to work with all abilities and ages within the Academy
- To have effective communication skills in order to liaise and work with colleagues
- To maintain a high level of professionalism and appearance at all times
- To actively develop own practice by participating in arrangements for further training and professional development
- To attend appropriate INSET days
- To, where appropriate offer, feedback to parents on their children’s learning, daily timetable and wellbeing
- To, where necessary, meet with multi agencies and other professionals, if required, to strengthen inclusive practice

- Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils at all times through your words, actions and behaviour.
Safeguard pupils by following the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education and our school’s child protection policy.
