We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will support children in a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive learning environment that promotes curiosity, confidence and a love of learning.

You will work closely with the class teacher of a mixed age R/1 class to support children’s learning, development and wellbeing in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework and KS1.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the learning and development of children through play-based and adult-led activities
  • Observe, record and contribute to assessments of children’s progress
  • Provide individual and small-group support, including for children with SEND or additional needs
  • Support the class teacher to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
  • Promote positive behaviour and social development
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents and carers
  • Follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times


Essential Qualities and Skills

  • A warm, patient and nurturing approach to working with young children
  • A genuine passion for Early Years education and child development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff and parents
  • Good understanding of the EYFS framework and child development (or willingness to learn)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A calm, flexible and positive attitude
  • Reliability, professionalism and a strong work ethic
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 in Early Years or Childcare)
  • Previous experience working in an EYFS setting
  • Knowledge of supporting children with additional needs
