37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, Permanent

Hours of work: 37 hours per week on a three week shift pattern:

Week A - 06:00 to 14:00 (30 minute unpaid lunch)

Week B - 05:45 to 13:45 (30 minute unpaid lunch)

Week C - 12:00 to 20:00 (30 minute unpaid lunch)

Rickmansworth School is judged to be an outstanding school (September 2023). We are an 11-18 heavily oversubscribed co-educational partially (35%) selective academy with around 1540 students on roll, increasing to around 1575 students over the next year. Academic results are strong at KS4 and KS5 with the vast majority of students securing their first choice university destinations.

The School is in a very strong, stable financial position with over £6M recently spent on school expansion including a new Sixth-form centre, performing arts theatres and an Innovation & Design Centre. The School is also supported extremely well by a fantastic PTA and Foundation. The individual will be a member of the team of Premises staff, responsible for maintaining the School premises in a state of good order. The aim is to ensure that the activities of students and staff can take place unimpeded in a clean, attractive and tidy environment. The Facilities and Maintenance Officer has primary responsibility for ensuring that the site is secured at the end of the school day.

The Successful candidate will:

  • Maintain the School buildings and grounds to include cleaning, decorating and minor repairs

  • Provide security of the premises to include locking up and responding to the School’s alarms

  • Undertake porterage of furniture and equipment as required

  • Operate the heating plant and other management systems

  • Perform duties associated with the use of the premises out of school hours

  • Be responsible for waste management

  • Liaise with contractors
