We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and innovative Faculty Leaderof Maths to join our Maths Faculty at Thomas Knyvett College to ensure that all staff within the department provide high-quality teaching and learning that supports students to make as much progress as possible.We are looking for an inspirational teacher with the ability to create a nurturing learning environment; a commitment to ‘Bringing out the Best’ in every student; and a genuine passion for their subject.
Teaching and learning is at the heart of everything we do at Thomas Knyvett College. We prioritise planning time for teachers with 16% PPA compared with the 10% national average. Thomas Knyvett College is a place where you really do have the space to teach. We encourage colleagues to try new things, take risks and have fun in the classroom. Our teachers are encouraged to be themselves whilst reflecting on the latest developments in pedagogy and how they can be applied. Central to our ethos are the positive relationships and personalised approach which we take with all our students.
Our Maths team is comprised of 7 specialist teachers and a Maths HLTA. There is a very strong sense of team spirit and the atmosphere is lively and supportive. Teachers have their own fully equipped classroom and access to ICT facilities.
In KS4 we follow the EDEXCEL GCSE linear syllabus. Data-led intervention occurs throughout KS4 and is tailored to each individual, taking into account the holistic picture of the student in and outside school.
In KS3, we follow the White Rose maths mastery programme. We aim to help each student achieve their full potential in the subject, stretching the most able as well as supporting lower attaining students.
