What skills and experience we're looking for
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is innovative and enthusiastic to join and lead our newly created faculty of Performing Arts which encompasses Drama, Dance, and Music. We are well resourced with a newly created performance space and are looking to further increase the space for our Performing Arts facilities. Across the academy we have a very strong focus on staff development and training. The successful candidate will be joining a vibrant team that is characterised by excellence and a passion for the arts and, in this role, the Faculty Leader will have oversight, across the arts, of all aspects of curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment and extra-curricular provision and community liaison, supporting the Leadership team to ensure:
a high quality cohesive curriculum;
high standards of teaching and learning;
excellent preparation, implementation of GCSE content and assessment, ensuring all pupils achieve their potential;
To ensure a vibrant performing arts culture is embedded throughout the academy.
The successful candidate will:
be an innovative and dedicated classroom practitioner in the area of Music, with a record of raising standards and driving progress. The ability to teach Music to a high standard is essential.
have outstanding interpersonal skills with experience of leading a team;
be relentless in their commitment to the success of all those that they teach;
be a team player who thrives on working collaboratively with colleagues.

Our students are excellent - generally above average ability on intake they have an excellent work ethic, standards of behaviour are very high and they are enthusiastic in their support of the academy evidenced, for example, by the very high numbers who engage in extra-curricular activities. You will therefore not be surprised to hear that the academy is significantly oversubscribed for the 330 places on offer in Year 7 each year. Places in our excellent Special Support Centre (SSC) which caters for 24 students with Education Health and Care Plans are equally sought after.
