Family Liaison Officer / SEN Assistant / Administrator job summary
Iwade School have an opportunity for a Family Liaison Officer / SEN Assistant / Administrator to join our dedicated team.
This is a term-time only temporary maternity cover, 37 hours a week (39 weeks per year).
We aim for all our children to become successful lifelong learners and are looking for someone that shares our ethos, someone who is passionate, motivated and enthusiastic. Good communication skills, an understanding of the needs of young people and an ability to work in a team are essential. A sound knowledge of SEN is desirable.
The successful candidate will:
- work closely with parents and staff to promote good relationships between home and school, addressing common barriers such as attendance, punctuality, poor behaviour and to understand social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and heritage.
- engage with parents in preventative and early intervention activities to support learning and well-being.
- promote parent and community engagement including working with other agencies including school nursing, education welfare services, early help, outreach etc.
- show initiative and a willingness to be involved in all aspects of school life and have the ability to draw on a wide range of support services, information, opportunities and guidance.
- take a flexible approach to working.
- proactively liaise and collaborate with SLT, teaching staff, parents and outside agencies;
- have experience of Safeguarding children, Child Protection and education management information systems
- be emotionally resilient and capable of dealing with challenging situations.
- work as part of a wider team with the children's needs at the centre
- encourage good home / school communication
- support parents to attend meetings and appointments
- have excellent administration and organisation skills
- have good communication skills and understand the importance of confidentiality and data protection;
