What skills and experience we're looking for

We welcome applications from candidates who are wholeheartedly committed to giving students and their families the support they need.

Reporting directly to the Head of School, the purpose of the role is to improve the life outcomes and opportunities for school-aged students and their families by providing a range of family support interventions and activities. The Family Support Officer will meet parents and families new to the school to identify any support that may be needed. They will deliver focused family support to improve the social, emotional development and health of pupils and their families. As part of the Safeguarding team you will work closely with the designated safeguarding lead and heads of departments to keep students safe, help them achieve their full learning potential and support families in engaging with their children’s learning, development and well-being. You will take an active role in building effective relationships with students and their families and will be prepared to work hard to enable them to thrive and be the best they can. Liaising with relevant professionals and outside agencies, attending core group and child protection meetings, case conferences and multi-agency meetings is a key part of the role as is working closely with staff, planning, and delivering safeguarding training in order to achieve best outcomes for the students. Part of the Vale Federation of Schools, Stocklake Park Secondary School is a special school which caters for students who have moderate to severe learning difficulties. There are currently 100 students at the main site. The school follows a primary model and is designed to meet individual educational needs and develop social and personal skills. The curriculum is organised to give students the opportunity to experience and explore different subjects. We provide high quality education and care and students have access to a range of therapies, multi-agency professionals and a team of therapists who support students’ needs.
