You can make a difference to a child's life every day.
We are looking for a Family Support Worker to deliver information, advice and support to parents and carers of children and young people.

How will you help?
You will be directly working with a group of 50 Afghan children who have recently relocated to nearby Beachley Barracks (from families who worked with the UK government in Afghanistan; now in the country through the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy) along with others. This group of students makes up a third of our pupil numbers. You will play a crucial role in supporting our children and families to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential whilst at our school.

You will:

* Have experience of working with young people, ideally those from diverse backgrounds;
* Be resilient and take pride in helping students who sometimes find school life challenging;
* Be flexible, positive and have a 'can-do' attitude.

We can offer you:

* A positive, community-driven school where high morale and low turnover have contributed to rapid improvements in attainment and progress.
* Happy, enthusiastic and well-behaved children.
* A leadership team who welcomes fresh ideas and sees the retention of colleagues as a high priority.
* Well-supported teachers who are committed to driving high standards.

Offa's Mead Primary Academy a small, friendly primary school with 150 students located in Gloucestershire. We have excellent local links as we are situated a mile outside of Chepstow and within commutable distance of both Bristol and Wales. Approximately a third of our pupils are from military families as we serve nearby Beachley Barracks.

Who is Lift Schools?

Our mission:

* We will provide an excellent education to every child, in every classroom, every day.
* With excellent leadership and teaching in every school, we will help children go on to lead successful and happy lives.
* We will work with others beyond our network to benefit more children and communities.

The role is due to commence as soon as possible. This is a fixed term position until August 2025.

Closing date: 14 October 2024

We are extremely proud of the remarkable children here at OMA and work hard to ensure we provide them with the very best academic, social and emotional learning opportunities every single day. A recent full Ofsted inspection, in October 2022, judged us to be a 'Good' school. The report can be found here.

We are a vibrant Primary Academy, proud to serve the Sedbury, Beachley and Chepstow communities. Our children are encouraged to participate fully in school life and to be responsible for contributing to an ethos where every member feels valued, respected and has a sense of purpose. The school recognises the importance of partnership and wants parents to play an active role in their child’s development throughout their primary years.

Our children start their academic journey in the school year in which they are five years old, when they join our Foundation Stage. As an AET academy, at OMA our mission is pure and simple: to enable our pupils to lead remarkable lives. This is the golden thread that binds us all together – the reason that despite our very different paths to OMA, we are all part of one family.
