Family Support Worker job summary

We are looking for a compassionate, proactive and highly organised Family Support Worker to join our team from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and families, promoting wellbeing, and helping every child thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in strengthening relationships between home and school, supporting attendance and wellbeing, and working alongside staff and external agencies to safeguard and support our children and families.

The Role

This is a varied and highly rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will work closely with pupils, families, staff and external agencies to provide early intervention, practical support and guidance for families.

The role includes:

  • Supporting safeguarding processes as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)

  • Working with families to improve attendance and punctuality

  • Providing wellbeing support for identified pupils

  • Supporting parents and carers through meetings, workshops and signposting

  • Building positive relationships with vulnerable pupils and families

  • Working collaboratively with external professionals and agencies

  • Contributing to our inclusive ethos and wider pastoral provision

We are looking for someone who: Is compassionate, approachable, and proactive individual who builds positive relationships easily with children, families, and professionals Has experience of working with children and families in a similar role within education, social care, safeguarding, or a related field Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a calm, solution-focused, and resilient approach Is passionate about improving attendance, wellbeing, safeguarding, and outcomes for young people Has the ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies to provide effective support and early intervention Has a genuine commitment to inclusion, child-centred practice, and ensuring every child feels safe, supported, and able to succeed
