What the school offers its staff

Montpelier Primary School is a large, diverse and dynamic primary school situated in a beautiful, leafy area of West London and benefitting from excellent transport connections.

We constantly strive to build on excellence and achieve the absolute best outcomes for all our pupils. The opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious leader to take on the key role of Finance and Operations Manager. Candidates will find that the school is in a stable financial position and that the premises are maintained to an excellent standard. We are passionate about the future of our school and ensuring it continues to evolve and improve over time. The current postholder is very keen to support a smooth transition with the successful applicant, once appointed.

We are looking to appoint a Finance and Operations Manager with key responsibilities for finance, premises, IT and site management. For the right candidate, there will be future opportunities to progress and take on a more diverse range of responsibilities, such as HR, administration and other areas of compliance.

If you have significant financial experience, preferably in the education sector or from business, and want to be part of our successful team then please consider applying. Primarily you will be responsible for the effective management, reporting and monitoring of the school’s finances. In addition, you will lead on premises, IT, capital works and projects for the school under the guidance of the co-headteachers.

We wish to appoint a candidate with excellent financial management experience, a self-starting and solution-focused mindset and the appropriate skills to lead and support the site manager and finance officer in the first instance. The successful post holder will oversee existing systems, refining and establishing new ones where appropriate. The role requires someone with strong stakeholder management skills as there are many external contracts and relationships to maintain.

At Montpelier Primary School all staff interact with pupils and colleagues daily and this role should not be perceived as an office-based job. It is a unique opportunity to shape the future of a successful primary school and to make a positive contribution to the wider Montpelier community in collaboration with an established, cohesive and supportive leadership team.

The successful candidate will be expected to arrange their annual leave so that there is always someone on site to liaise with contractors and lettees, i.e. to co-ordinate with the site manager’s annual leave.

Commitment to safeguarding

The school is committed to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Applicants who are shortlisted will be required - prior to interview - to complete a self-declaration form, declaring any criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children.
