Finance Assistant job summary
Overview:
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Finance Assistant will assist in the provision of the finance function to internal and external customers of the Trust. The role is based in the Central Finance Team and will cover a wide variety of areas in Finance such as income, supplier payments, budgeting and accounting. This is a key role in the Finance Team and will help to support the trusts’ goal of delivering excellent centralised support services.
Core purpose:
The completion of administrative / financial duties within the Central Finance Team; to ensure that the financial processes of BDMAT run smoothly and in line with the Trust’s policies and legislation, whilst delivering excellent service to the schools and all employees.
Specific responsibilities
Finance administration duties
To support the Finance Team in acting as a point of contact for both internal and external customers of the Trust.
To be the first point of contact for all communication via the finance Zendesk
To monitor Zendesk tickets ensuring that KPI’s are met
Input and coding of purchase orders
Check open purchase orders/on hold items
Inputting the Trusts accounts payable invoices
Dealing with supplier and school queries around invoicing and ordering
Processing payments to our approved list of suppliers
Creating sales invoices
Chase outstanding payment due
Efficient use of systems including Access Dimensions, HOGE Finance Portal, IMP Software, Outlook, Excel and Word.
Assist the Head of Finance and School Finance Partners with preparation of school financial information.
To maintain a confidential (manual and electronic) filing systems to ensure that accurate up to date information is available for the central finance team.
To respond to basic requests for information relating to finance.
To undertake filing, photocopying, collation of information and general clerical work on behalf of the central finance team.
To undertake standard word-processing, presentation work, spreadsheet work and database input as required.
Promote good financial practice across the Trust
Training / Professional Development
To be responsible for your own professional development and career progression with support of the Head of Finance.
Take part in regular performance review meetings and act on feedback given.
General
Support the overall Christian ethos of the Trust
Be a part of the BDMAT Central Team
Provide admin support to the central team as required
