Finance Assistant (Maternity Cover) job summary

Empower Multi Academy Trust are seeking to recruit a motivated and organised Finance Assistant for maternity cover to support the Director of Finance in delivering an efficient and effective high-quality financial service to our schools.

Experience and confidence in using the Trust finance accounting system IRIS is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Duties are:

Processing invoices and Purchase Orders

Generating Supplier payments

Monthly charge card reconciliation for all schools

Allocating income on IRIS - DfE income, childcare vouchers, other income

Dealing with new supplier requests and setting up on IRIS accordingly

Dealing with calls from suppliers and/or schools and other stakeholders

Attending weekly team meetings

Under the guidance of the Director of Finance, assist in the preparation of any reports for stakeholders,

auditors etc.

The duties and responsibilities as highlighted above are indicative and may vary. The post holder will be expected to undertake other duties and responsibilities relevant to the nature, level and scope of the post under the guidance of the Director of Finance.

The post is on a 4 day a week part-time basis, however this may be flexible. HQ in Shrewsbury. The role is based at the Trust HQ office, Battlefield Enterprise Park, Shrewsbury, SY1 3EH.

If you are highly numerate, have an eye for detail and enjoy being part of a team, we would love to hear from you. Qualifications in accounting and experience working in a similar environment are desirable.

The closing date is Monday 13th October 2025 and interviews will be held week commencing 20 October 2025.
