Finance Manager job summary

The successful candidate will work as part of the Central Finance team under the line management of the Lead Finance Manager.

The purpose of the role is to manage financial planning, reporting, analysis and risk management across dedicated schools.

You will be working as part of a supportive team of Finance Managers to assist our schools in managing their finances, completing budgets, forecasts, and monthly accounts.

You will play a key role in challenging social disadvantage, delivering on our diversity, equity and inclusion commitments, ensuring regulatory compliance and contributing to the Trust’s vision, growth and strategic plan.

You will;


Finance Lead for dedicated schools. Building strong professional relationships across all teams.


Preparation on Monthly Management Accounts.

  1. Create and post monthly journals including income and expenditure accruals, deferrals, and transfer of costs and income between schools and central.
  2. Maintain additional schedules as required for monthly reporting.
  3. Complete monthly Payroll Reconciliations, investigate variances and create summary reports.
  4. Update monthly budget forecasts and highlight key variances in readiness for school review.
  5. Lead regular finance meetings with school Principal, Regional Director and Operation Manager, to review period results and reforecast for future months.
  6. Preparation of annual budgets using a Curriculum Led Financial Planning (CLFP) modelling tool.
  7. Publish monthly forecasts.
  8. Maintain accurate staff records in IMP.
  9. Grant Management and Trip reconciliation.
  10. Monthly balance Sheet reviews with Financial Controller.
  11. Support school compliance around Financial Processes.
  12. Provide any ad hoc analysis and reports as and when required.
  13. Provide high quality financial information and advice across school and central stakeholders to support strategic and operational planning and management activities.
  14. Act in accordance with Trust policies at all times, ensuring a high standard of professionalism.
