This is a fantastic opportunity to play a strategic role in our school's success—supporting the School Business Manager on high-level planning while managing a dedicated team. Whether you are looking for full-time or flexible part-time hours (minimum 30 per week) and the benefit of term-time plus four weeks working, we offer a supportive environment with a comprehensive handover to ensure you hit the ground running.Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Budgeting: You will support the School Business Manager in developing financial plans aligned with the School Strategic Improvement Plan and oversee budget and forecasting software to ensure data integrity.
Operational Management: You will maintain effective systems for financial control, manage all income and expenditure (including BACS and online payments), and review school finance policies.
Reporting & Compliance: Your role involves producing monthly management accounts, VAT returns, and year-end trial balances, while ensuring full compliance with the Academies Trust Handbook and ESFA requirements.
Payroll & Pensions: You will manage the outsourced payroll service to ensure staff are paid accurately and on time, while handling all associated pension returns and queries.
Team Leadership: You will lead and manage the Finance team, overseeing recruitment, induction, and performance management for the Assistant Finance Manager, Finance Assistant, and School Trips Co-ordinator.
Stakeholder Engagement: You will act as a principal point of contact for HMRC and auditors, and attend Trust Board Resources Committee meetings to present financial reports.

Katherine Warington School is a new comprehensive, co‐educational and non‐denominational academic secondary school (opened September 19) with 750 students currently (180 in each of years 7, 8, 9 and 10 – these year groups are already oversubscribed). The school will add a
further 180 students in each subsequent year and then open a 250 strong Sixth Form. By 2025 we will have grown to our capacity of 1,150 students. The school was established through the partnership of the Harpenden Secondary Schools Trust, which includes the three outstanding
schools in Harpenden: Roundwood Park, St George’s and Sir John Lawes and additional partners: the University of Hertfordshire and Rothamsted Research Centre (a world leading non‐profit agricultural science research centre).
