Finance Officer job summary

We are looking to appoint an experienced finance professional.  Someone who may be looking for that next step on the ladder or who already has experience of financial management in Education.  

The Finance Officer is responsible for all matters in relation to finances in school. The role requires an individual with knowledge of accounting procedures, budget monitoring, and effective IT skills.  You will carry out a range of complex or sensitive/confidential financial monitoring and accounting duties to include raising purchase orders, paying invoices, bank and credit card reconciliation, monthly trial balances and petty cash.  As well as producing financial reports to governors, being able to report finances with clarity.

In this individual, we are seeking someone who has a good understanding of the context of our school and a strong desire to work with our students; someone who will work hard and go ‘the extra mile’, because our students deserve this.  We want someone who believes it is a privilege to work with young people, to be a part of their journey into adulthood, and who understands the challenges faced by young people growing up in today's world. 

The successful candidate will not only provide strategic management of this area but also work alongside colleagues, providing advice and support regarding the funding of our school facilities and resources.

As well as a bespoke internal CPD programme, being a member of The Red Kite Alliance provides us with support, advice and training from some of the most successful and forward-thinking schools in the country.  We encourage our staff to attend meetings and CPD, and make links with their counterparts in RKA schools, to aid their individual development as well as the development of their team.
