We’re looking for a motivated, organised and friendly Finance Officer to join our welcoming team at Thamesmead School for a maternity cover position starting in January 2026.

This is a great opportunity to work in a busy and rewarding school environment where no two days are the same! You’ll play a key role in keeping our finances running smoothly — from processing orders and invoices to helping manage budgets, school trips and lettings.

You’ll work closely with our Senior Finance Officer and Business Support Team to make sure our financial processes are efficient, accurate and reflect our school’s high standards and values.

  • Keeping an eye on stock levels for key items such as paper and classroom consumables.
  • Processing invoices, payments and supplier queries promptly and accurately.
  • Monitoring budget spending and preparing reports for budget holders.
  • Supporting month-end tasks such as journal postings.
  • Handling finances for school trips, events and lettings, including liaising with trip leaders and external organisations.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and helping with audits when required.

About You

We’d love to hear from you if you are:

  • Experienced in finance or accounts work (school or public sector experience is a bonus!).
  • Highly organised, accurate and confident with numbers.
  • Comfortable using finance software (experience with Bromcom or Tucasi would be an advantage).
  • Able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
  • A great communicator who enjoys working as part of a team.

Most importantly, you’ll bring a positive attitude and a genuine commitment to supporting our school community.

Why Join Us?
