Financial Controller job summary
Corpus Christi Catholic Academy Trust (the Trust) is looking to appoint a Financial Controller on a full time basis; although applications for part time working from an exceptional candidate may also be considered. The post is based in the central Finance Team of the Trust and will work in collaboration with all of the current 12 schools in the Trust covering areas of Manchester, Trafford, Tameside and Stockport as well as those wishing to join the Trust in the near future. The Trust has an ambitious growth plan and this position would ideally suit an equally ambitious individual who sees their future as a Chief Financial Officer.
The role will oversee the day to day supervision of the highly regarded and high performing central Finance Team and liaise with colleagues in schools who have financial responsibilities within their role.
We are looking for an individual who has the skill set, experience, motivation, and enthusiasm to work in partnership with Headteachers and other stakeholders to help lead the future vision and development of our expanding Trust and improve outcomes for young people.
The ideal candidate will:-
- have a professional or part-qualification in accountancy (ACA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACCA) or, for an exceptional candidate, be qualified by experience
- have experience and knowledge of the preparation and interpretation of statutory accounts
- have experience of the education sector and a detailed understanding of the ESFA Academies Handbook; although this is not essential as full training will be available
- be technically minded, but also be a ‘people person’
- have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- be enthusiastic and motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude
- be able to adapt and respond appropriately to challenging situatio
- be driven by improved educational outcomes for young people
- have strong moral and ethical principles and values
- be open to new ideas, committed to working as part of a team and of course have a good sense of humour
- be able to drive and have access to a car
The main duties of the role are:
To further develop the financial governance of the Trust
To manage the central Finance function of the Trust
To oversee the monthly bank reconciliation
To ensure all other Balance Sheet control totals are fully reconciled
To support the Chief Financial Officer in the production, distribution and interpretation of monthly Management Accounts, cash flow forecasts, Capital Programme and Balance Sheet
To attend Local Governing Body Finance & Resource Committees to present the latest set of accounts and relevant commentary
To liaise with external auditors
To work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team
