Havelock Academy is now recruiting for a Fixed Term (Maternity Cover) Head of Art. This role could be your next career opportunity. The position would commence from January 2026.

About the role
The purpose of this role is to lead our small Visual Arts team and plan and delivery high quality art lessons to students in key stages 3 and 4 and to take on the role of form tutor for a key stage 3 tutor group. Contribution to the extensive arts enrichment programme would also be an expectation.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for an artist who loves teaching young people and is prepared to fully engage with life at the academy, including being a part of a house and supporting our wide arts enrichment programme. The successful candidate will ideally hold qualified teacher status and have experience delivering art lessons at key stages 3 and 4. Whilst we are ideally seeking someone to lead the art team for the duration of this maternity cover, we would consider less experienced candidates for a main scale position as an alternative, with leadership falling under the wider creative team instead.
