The Trustees and Governors of Sprowston Community Academy are seeking to appoint a technician to support the Food Preparation & Nutrition and Textiles departments.

This role includes taking direction from teachers (or other appropriate supervisors). The post holder will work in accordance with the practices and procedures of the school ensuring safe, effective and efficient food/textiles areas, services and resources are provided for the use of pupils and teaching staff. Additionally and where appropriate to provide technical/safety advice and assistance in and for the classroom and to support pupils and assist teaching staff with learning activities.

The post holder will be expected to be well organised in their approach. The role is of a practical nature and will therefore require stamina and adaptability.

The appointed candidates will ideally:

  • Possess experience of preparing food and using sewing machines

  • Have experience of working with young people

  • Have excellent communication skills to interact with staff and students

  • Be able to work proactively, independently and as part of a team

  • Be willing to work flexibly according to the needs of the school

  • Have a real passion to “make a difference”
