Food Department Technician job summary
Food Department Technician Required for September 2026
37 hours per week / Term Time Only (44 weeks)
This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a practical environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of organisation, cleanliness and food safety.
Key Responsibilities- Preparing ingredients, equipment and teaching resources for practical lessons
- Supporting teachers and students during practical food sessions
- Maintaining food rooms, equipment and storage areas to a high standard
- Managing stock levels, ordering supplies and undertaking food shopping
- Completing cleaning, laundry and food hygiene routines
- Supporting examination preparation and coursework administration
- Monitoring equipment maintenance and reporting faults
- Assisting with departmental displays, resources and general administration
- Is highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Has excellent attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness
- Understands the importance of food hygiene, health and safety procedures
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Has good IT and administrative skills
- Is flexible, practical and enjoys supporting young people in their learning
Previous experience in a food, catering, hospitality, education or technician role would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.
