What skills and experience we're looking for

Experience

Experience working with children

Experience of catering and food service

One year relevant experience in a school setting

Knowledge and understanding

Understanding of child protection, safeguarding and bullying issues and able to demonstrate understanding of own accountabilities

Understanding of food hygiene regulations

Proficient understanding of food allergies and modified diets

Awareness of school security regulations

Awareness of basic health and safety principles

Understanding of children’s playground culture

Skills and abilities

Ability to be consistent in quality of service and portion size

Ability to be firm and calm, and respond quickly to developing situations

Ability to communicate effectively with other staff and children

Ability to command respect

Ability to motivate and encourage pupils
