Helston Community College, part of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, are seeking a dedicated Food Technician to join our thriving Design & Technology/Food Department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting students’ learning and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our food rooms for 14.5 hours per week spread over a Thursday and Friday
About the Role:
As our Food Technician, you will:
· Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for practical food lessons
· Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised environment, following all hygiene and health & safety requirements
· Support teachers during practical sessions, helping students to work safely and confidently
· Assist with displays, demonstrations, and wider department activities
· Contribute to the positive ethos of the College by supporting student learning and engagement
About you:
We are looking for someone who:
· Is enthusiastic, reliable and highly organised
· Can work efficiently in a busy environment
· Has good communication skills and enjoys working with young people
· Has experience of working in a kitchen, catering, or food preparation environment [desirable, but not essential]
· Understands food hygiene practices [training can be provided]
