What skills and experience we're looking for

Areas of responsibilities and Key tasks

  • To plan and develop Forest School and all the opportunities it offers at Grendon Underwood.
  • To plan, prepare and deliver a range of forest school sessions for children aged 4 - 11 year olds.
  • To set up and clear away, manage and maintain Forest school equipment, seeking external support when necessary.
  • To manage and protect the Forest school area flora and fauna
  • To create and maintain an engaging, fun and supportive environment, demonstrating flexibility in planning and running sessions in response to the changing needs of children.
  • To liaise with class teacher and supporting staff prior to the sessions to ensure plans are appropriate and the needs and expectations of all the children are met.
  • Ensure all health and safety requirements are met including risk assessments which are annually checked and updated.
  • Train, manage and communicate with supporting staff and suggest strategies to support particular children.
  • To be aware and comply with all GUCS policies and procedures including safeguarding.
  • To be equipped for, manage and administer first aid in line with paediatric training.

Leading the curriculum

  • Develop and review regularly the vision, aims and purpose of Forest School in line with the school’s cohorts
  • Facilitate and develop child led learning opportunities
  • To participate in all relevant training and ensure up to date knowledge
  • Inform, empower and train support staff to facilitate child led learning alongside the Forest School Lead in the session.
  • Make sure there is an effective system of analysing progress to ensure that Forest school has a positive impact on the pupils.

● Communicate with parents the vision, ethos and principles of Forest School as required
