Welcome to Applegarth Primary School. Our historic building is in the centre of Northallerton in the heart of North Yorkshire. When our school was built in 1909, it was intended to be the model school in the county. It is our goal to make this vision a reality.

Applegarth Primary has an intake of 40 pupils per year group (270 currently on role). We have big ambitions for our school as we continue to share and develop excellence for our children and our staff team.

We welcomed our Headteacher in September 2019 and over the last year we have overhauled our curriculum, reading provision, leadership structure, policies and learning environments. Our ongoing development in terms of educational achievement and commitment to raising standards is at the forefront of our thinking, and we have a great induction package in place to support you in your professional development throughout your time at Applegarth.

Our Vision

At Applegarth, we strive to provide a challenging and relevant curriculum that ignites pupils’ love of learning and successful unlocks the true potential of each child.

We have the highest expectations of all our learners and set ambitious goals to ensure that our pupils master the necessary skills to prepare them for the next phase of their education.

We recognise that a unique approach is often required to meet the needs of individual learners in order to make this vision a reality.

We believe that reflection and resilience should underpin children’s learning in order to promote rounded, productive citizens who are ready to make a positive contribution to society.

Our Applegarth Values help pupils to develop tolerance, respect diversity and care for others and the world around them in a safe environment. Each child is given the chance to be healthy and happy both mentally and physically.

The learning process is valued, and we celebrate effort, attitude and achievement in equal measure. Applegarth is a family where children take pride in themselves and their peers and support one another.

Parents/Carers, governors and the whole community are active participants in our school’s development.

We can offer you:

- A school with a renewed focus who puts educational excellence at its heart and an aspirational outlook for our children.

- An opportunity to be in a school that is rapidly improving.

- Happy, enthusiastic children who are thriving and have a thirst for learning.

- Strong support and the opportunity for your continued professional development.
