What skills and experience we're looking for

Abbeywood Community School is excited to announce a wonderful opportunity for an exceptional Geography Teacher to become a valued member of our vibrant and collaborative Humanities team. This is a permanent position, beginning on 1st September 2025

Geography is a very popular subject with students and has a strong uptake to KS4 so the successful candidate should be able to teach Geography to GCSE. There may also be the opportunity to teach A Level for candidates with relevant experience. There is a strong, enthusiastic network of Geography Teachers across the Olympus Academy Trust who meet regularly to develop curriculum and share resources.

The post holder will be passionate about the subject and will be able to deliver exciting and engaging opportunities for learning across all year groups. They should have a strong sense of team work, a willingness to contribute to innovative curriculum development and a desire to improve their own and the faculty’s practice.

Both newly qualified teachers and experienced teachers are welcome to apply. The successful candidate may also be required to teach RS in addition to Geography.

Abbeywood is part of a large and successful family of schools. The Olympus Academy Trust (OAT) is a partnership of schools, currently comprising nine South Gloucestershire schools; one all-through, three secondary and five primary academies. There are plentiful opportunities for cross Trust CPD as part of this role.
