Geography Teacher job summary

The Geography Teacher role at Seva School is an important opportunity to inspire curiosity, critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world in students from Year 7 to Year 11. You will deliver high‑quality Geography lessons that develop students’ knowledge of physical and human geography, build their analytical and investigative skills, and promote an appreciation of global issues, environments and cultures. Your teaching will reflect strong subject expertise, excellent planning and engaging learning experiences that motivate and challenge all pupils.

You will be responsible for implementing the National Curriculum and relevant examination specifications, ensuring all students make strong progress through well‑structured lessons, adaptive teaching and effective differentiation. Working collaboratively with colleagues, you will contribute to the development of Schemes of Learning, share good practice and support the creation of meaningful and memorable learning experiences. You will also set ambitious targets rooted in assessment data and use ongoing feedback to guide students’ improvement.

A key part of the role involves maintaining accurate records of attainment, behaviour and attendance, marking and assessing work in line with school policies, and communicating effectively with parents, carers and pastoral teams. You will analyse assessment outcomes, contribute to action planning and implement interventions where needed to raise attainment across the department.

Beyond classroom teaching, you will play a valuable role in the wider school community, contributing to enrichment opportunities such as trips, fieldwork and whole‑school programmes. As a Form Tutor, you will support students’ pastoral development, deliver PSHE sessions, monitor attendance and punctuality, and foster positive relationships that support both academic and personal growth.
