Accountable to the Board, the professional is responsible for ensuring the statutory duties of the Trustees are fulfilled and that the entire governance framework operates effectively.
The role's primary focus is comprehensive legal and regulatory adherence. Key duties include maintaining all statutory records, registers, and the full policy lifecycle for the Trust. The professional will ensure accuracy across public-facing portals such as Companies House and GIAS, and will ensure governance-specific risks are integrated into the Trust’s central risk register. If working the full hours, the role also combines with compliance where the candidate will also lead on Trust compliance for Freedom of Information Requests and Subject Access Requests (FOI/SAR), maintaining the Data Protection Log, and liaising with our outsourced Data Protection company.
We require a highly skilled professional with a commitment to building successful stakeholder relationships. Expert knowledge of the MAT legal framework—including the Academy Trust Handbooks, Company Law, and Charity Law is essential, or the willingness to acquire the knowledge. Applicants must have experience in clerking meetings or minute taking.
