Governance Co-Ordinator job summary
Location: South Yorkshire Academies (Trust-wide)
Contract Type: Term-Time (39 weeks per year) - 22 hours per week | Permanent
Astrea Academy Trust is seeking a proactive and committed Governance Co-ordinator to support and strengthen local governance across our South Yorkshire academies. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to our mission of disrupting disadvantage and ensuring every school plays a vital role in helping its community thrive.

Key Responsibilities- Act as clerk to several South Yorkshire academies, ensuring statutory compliance and high-quality governance.
- Build strong relationships with Principals, Chairs, and central teams to support effective governance.
- Identify and share best practice across committees and intervene where needed to improve local governance.
- Support recruitment and training of volunteer committee members.
- Facilitate communication between local, regional, and Trust governance layers.
- Provide clerking and advice for exclusions and complaints, ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
- Support data protection compliance, including FOI and SAR responses.
- Manage administrative tasks including travel bookings, meeting arrangements, mailbox monitoring, and stock control.
- Contribute to the wider Executive Services team, supporting policy queries and operational systems.
- A highly organised and confident communicator with a passion for education and community impact.
- Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and can build strong professional relationships.
- Experience in governance, compliance, or executive support is desirable but not essential.
- A team player who is aligned with Astrea’s values and committed to excellence and equity.
