Governance Professional (Clerk) job summary

We are looking to appoint a highly organised Clerk who is keen to contribute to the ongoing success of St Mary’s CE Academy. You will play a crucial role in delivering a high-quality clerking service, offering administrative support and procedural advice to our Governing Board. Your work will directly impact the strategic role of the board in ensuring St Mary’s provides the best possible education for their pupils.

Experience preferred but training can be organised for the successful applicant.

Key responsibilities:

Taking and typing detailed minutes to a consistently high standard.

Providing procedural advice to the Governing Board using legislation relating to school governance.

Planning and facilitating Governing Board meetings in collaboration with the Chair of Governors and Headteacher.

Maintaining accurate records of Governing Board business and membership.

Skills required:

Excellent administrative, IT and communication skills. Shorthand/Touch typing an advantage

Ability to work efficiently to deadlines.

Flexibility to work at times convenient to the Governing Board.

Benefits:

Part-time, hybrid-working - enjoy the flexibility of working from home, along with onsite work in school.

Salary to be negotiated, depending on experience.

Approximately 10 meetings per year, usually early evening. Mix of On-line (Zoom) and in person
