This is an opportunity to influence how governance works across a thriving, values‑led Trust, and to lead meaningful change that improves outcomes for children, colleagues and communities.

Why join ECED?

We value every colleague.

Everyone in our Trust plays a vital part in our mission to increase life chances for every child, every day. You will be welcomed into a community that prioritises wellbeing, development, and belonging — a place where your expertise is recognised, your voice matters, and your growth is supported.

We work collaboratively.

You will join a culture where leaders share time, expertise, and opportunities generously; where colleagues support each other across schools; and where your work will directly contribute to our Strategic Governance priorities within the Trust Development Plan.

You will shape this role.

You will have the autonomy to refine systems, design processes, strengthen governance practice, and build a professional clerking network across all schools. We are looking for someone who wants to put their stamp on the role and drive high‑quality governance across the Trust.

The role

As our Governance Professional, you will:

  • Provide high‑quality governance support to Trustees, Members and committees
  • Lead on statutory compliance and governance assurance across the Trust
  • Drive improvements in governance systems, processes and documentation
  • Provide leadership and support to school‑based clerks
  • Support governance preparation for new schools joining the Trust
  • Ensure that governance is efficient, ethical, inclusive and aligned with our values
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and Trustees

This role is home‑based (WFH) with scheduled on‑site meetings across our schools.

Who we’re looking for

You will thrive in this role if you are:

  • Highly organised, proactive and able to anticipate needs
  • Confident advising senior leaders and governing boards
  • A strong communicator who builds positive, trust-based relationships
  • Values-driven, with a commitment to inclusion, transparency and integrity
  • Motivated to create impact, lead change and continuously improve governance
  • Excited by the opportunity to shape a role as our Trust grows

You do not need prior experience in a multi‑academy trust — what matters most is your professionalism, your passion for governance, and your drive to make a difference.

What we offer

  • A Trust that genuinely cares about its people
  • A strong commitment to wellbeing and workload
  • High-quality CPD
  • Opportunities to design new systems, lead projects and influence Trust‑wide practice
  • An open, collaborative culture where innovation is encouraged
  • An executive team that values your expertise and supports your development
