About the Role

As a Graduate Trainee Experience at our school, you will play a critical, hands-on role in maintaining the continuity of education during short-term teacher absences. You will be responsible for supervising lessons, delivering pre-prepared materials, and ensuring a productive, safe, and engaging learning environment for students across all key stages. This position offers focused professional development, serving as an excellent pathway into teacher training.

Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Supervision & Delivery:

Supervise Lessons: Deliver pre-set work, ensuring students remain on task and focused on achieving the learning objectives provided by the absent teacher.

Manage the Learning Environment: Maintain good order and effective discipline within the classroom, ensuring a positive and safe atmosphere where learning can thrive.

Support Student Engagement: Actively circulate the classroom, encouraging students, responding to basic queries, and promoting independent learning.

Administer Resources: Take registers, distribute and collect resources, and report on student behaviour and any issues encountered during the lesson to the relevant teaching staff.

Whole-School Contribution:

Uphold School Standards: Play an active part in the implementation of school policies, practices, and procedures, supporting our vision and values.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate positively with colleagues, including teaching and support staff, to ensure smooth daily operations and continuous support for all students.

Pastoral Care:

Foster Wellbeing: Act as a positive role model and promote the safety and wellbeing of all pupils during supervision.

Support Discipline: Effectively implement the school's behaviour policy, managing low-level disruption to maintain a productive environment.

Professional Growth & Development:

Trainee Focus: Actively engage in all induction, training, and professional development opportunities provided, viewing this role as a foundation for a career in education.

Reflect and Improve: Continuously develop classroom management and supervisory skills, actively seeking feedback to enhance practice and prepare for potential future teacher training.

Uphold the highest standards of ethics and behaviour, understanding and acting within statutory safeguarding guidance to promote the best interests and safety of all pupils.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a Graduate Trainee Experience who is:

A recent graduate (or equivalent) with a strong academic background.

Enthusiastic about working with young people and interested in a career in teaching.

Confident and authoritative in managing and motivating groups of students.
