What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an energetic and innovative leader to support with the transition of our new Year 7 cohort and to join our “greatly valued” Pastoral Team (Ofsted Inspection, 2015). Our Guidance Managers are central to the progress of all our pupils. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in supporting pupils’ progress and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our new Year 7 pupils as they start their journey at Toynbee, whilst also supporting all pupils across the school. They will be responsible for cultivating the crucial chemistry between the social, emotional, academic and creative development of each pupil. Promoting positive behaviour for learning and maintaining high standards and expectations are central to the role, as is working closely with Parents, Teachers, the SENCO and the Senior Leadership Team to offer all our pupils the platform for success in their future education and livelihood.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be committed to supporting all pupils to achieve their “Personal Best”
  • Lead by example
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be forward thinking, receptive to change and able to work under pressure.
  • Have proven literacy and numeracy skills. (Equivalent to at least a GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English)

Whilst previous secondary school experience is not necessarily essential, a passion for supporting all pupil to achieve their potential is crucial.
