Guitar Tutor job summary
Deansfield is an innovative, oversubscribed primary school in Eltham, committed to providing an outstanding education for all its children. Deansfield forms part of the exciting Compass Partnership of schools with 14 schools across London and Essex. The unique Compass Partnership provides immense opportunities to develop the quality of provision and outcomes, and the sharing of good practice.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and committed guitar teacher. Music is an essential part of our curriculum and ethos. All children receive weekly class music lessons with our experienced Music Lead. In addition to this provision, all children in Years 3 to 6 can choose to learn an instrument with our visiting music tutors. Currently we offer tuition in piano, violin, cello, guitar and drum-kit. The school has a very strong reputation for its singing: we have several choirs, and there is a long history of children performing at prestigious events and venues.
We are looking for a vibrant, caring and dedicated guitar teacher who will be able to inspire and motivate a wide range of students. In particular, we are seeking someone who can nurture and encourage both highly motivated students, and those students who find practicing at home a challenge.
The work of our music tutors is fully integrated into the wider music curriculum. Children will come to our tutors already familiar with music notation and a basic understanding of the instrument they have chosen. We very much promote a supportive partnership with our music tutors.
The number of teaching hours will vary from year to year. It is expected that this academic year there will be 1 day of teaching per week.
Please email our music lead at dmoore@deansfield.compassps.uk for informal enquiries. Visits to school are warmly welcomed, please email our music lead to arrange an appointment. In the meantime, please take a look at our website at www.deansfield.compassps.uk where you will learn more about our School, its ethos and values. We hope to hear from you soon.
