About us and the role
For September 2022, we are looking to appoint a Head of Department (Maternity Cover), until July 2023, to lead a highly successful Art department.
We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic and dedicated Art teacher to lead a department that enjoys an excellent reputation both within and beyond the school. If you are an outstanding practitioner with the ability to inspire and motivate students and who is keen to move into middle leadership, we would like to hear from you.
The successful candidate will not only be passionate about their subject, and have exceptional subject knowledge, but also have a passion and drive to devise, implement, monitor the teaching and delivery to engage students in their studying of Art from Key stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The outstanding behaviour of our students truly gives you the opportunity to teach your subject and deliver exciting and engaging lessons.
The school has now moved to its new £25-million-pound building located in Stanmore, Wemborough Road HA7 2EQ. You will be able to teach in facilities that are up to date and at the cutting edge of technology. You will have your own Art studio space dedicated to your subject enabling you to develop the very best teaching and learning practices. There are a full range of other facilities including; state of the art sports grounds and hall, performing arts spaces and fantastic teaching rooms.

Avanti House has secured outstanding outcomes both in terms of attainment and progress at GCSE. The school scored a progress 8 value of 0.67 in 2019/20 which is well above the national average, with over 80% gaining Maths and English above Grade 5. The exceptional outcomes are based upon the continued development of teaching and learning which is at the core of all decisions that the school makes, enabling professional development to be of paramount importance developing all levels of staff. It has a rapidly growing Sixth form with students being accepted to a range of universities including Oxbridge and prestigious Russel group universities.

What are we looking for?
Deliver the curriculum as relevant to the age and ability group/subject/s that you teach
Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate
Be accountable for the attainment, progress and outcomes of pupils’ you teach
Be aware of pupils’ capabilities, their prior knowledge and plan teaching and differentiate appropriately to build on these, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of how pupils learn
