We are a highly successful, community mixed comprehensive school with Teaching School status in a pleasant rural setting only 5 miles from the centre of Cambridge and are currently seeking to appoint an inspirational and forward-thinking individual to lead our team who can start in September 2025. We currently have around 1900 11-18 pupils on roll including our sixth form centre that opened in September 2011.

Our pupils are well motivated, staff morale is excellent and examination results at KS4 and KS5 were outstanding: Both attainment and progress measures regularly and consistently put the school in the top 5% of all state comprehensive schools. The school has consistently been rated by Ofsted as Outstanding over very many years and was rated Outstanding again in all 5 areas in November 2024. 50264498 (ofsted.gov.uk)

The business department has and continues to have a strong reputation for the delivery of A-level, GCSE and the L3 BTEC National business qualification. Additionally, the department delivers A-level economics and an after-school GCSE economics option. Teachers teach across key stages KS4 and KS5.

The business team are a friendly, collaborative and hard-working group of teachers who all share a common enthusiasm for business, economics and students’ education. The team of business and economic teachers currently comprises 3 full-time and 2 part-time specialists. There is a head of department who leads the team delivering their subject in KS4 and KS5 and oversees the development and delivery of the subjects. There is a strong sense of teamwork and consistency of approach in the department. This is supported by a set of schemes of work for all courses. In addition, close working links with a Special Needs Department mean that we receive in-class and out of class support from Special Needs Teaching Assistants.

An additional responsibility of BTEC coordinator, across KS4 and KS5 BTEC qualifications may also be available for suitable candidates. The role involves the quality assurance of our BTEC courses and liaising with programme leaders cross-departmentally.

The Department staff are based in a dedicated office. Lessons take place in the sixth form and in the main school. There is also a dedicated BTEC classroom which consists of ICT resources. All classrooms include a multimedia projector, and teachers are provided with a laptop. All computers and devices are connected to the school wireless network.
