What skills and experience we're looking for
An opportunity has arisen for you to join our highly focused, dedicated staff in the role of Head of Chemistry. Teaching across key stages 3,4 and 5 we are looking for an excellent practitioner who can deliver innovative and creative lessons which challenge and engage students to progress academically and develop personally during their time at the academy.

“I have worked at The Holgate Academy for 22 years as a teacher, STEM coordinator and at present Acting Assistant Head of faculty, where I have been fortunate enough to work in a progressive and forward-thinking science faculty where I have been able to develop my mentoring, teaching and leadership skills. Being able to develop and improve as a teacher has always been a driving force for me and The Holgate Academy provides an excellent CPD programme to enable me to progress and develop.
Our students are the reason that I aim to try and do my very best as a teacher every day. We have some amazing students here at Holgate. The science faculty endeavour to show students that we care about them and we take the time to build positive relationships with the students, which we feel in turn helps to promote the students’ academic growth.
One of the very best things about our Science faculty here at Holgate though is the relationships we have developed with each other. Here, I have made lifelong friends and we are all super supportive of each other. The members of our team are enthusiastic and knowledgeable and we approach our jobs with both diligence but also with a sense of humour. Science leaders are supportive and conscientious of workload and we work collaboratively to design lessons to deliver the curriculum. For new staff coming into our faculty, we are welcoming and will try to help you out in any way we can.”

The opportunity
This post would suit either a new entrant to the profession or an experienced teacher.We would welcome a teacher returning to work after a career break and will consider part time or flexible working where possible.
We endeavour to utilise each teacher's specialism and offer the opportunity to teach A level in our sixth form centre for the right candidate.

We are a large secondary academy for students aged 11-16 years based in Hucknall and, together with our partner academies, offer post 16 study at the Hucknall Sixth Form Centre.
We support our young people, so they enjoy their time at the academy and play a key part in all that academy life has to offer. We are immensely proud of the successes achieved by our students and we constantly strive to do more and be even better.
