  • The Bulmershe School seeks an outstanding Head of Computing with a strong passion and good knowledge to join our friendly department.

    The Computing Department at Bulmershe offers a rich, stimulating and inclusive curriculum designed to meet the needs of all students at key stages 3, 4 and 5. At KS3, we offer a differentiated, centrally planned and resourced curriculum. Spanning three years it amounts to a minimum of 100 hours of learning. Our KS4 curriculum for years 10 and 11 offers OCR GCSE in Computer Science and BTEC Level 1/2 Technical Award in Digital Information Technology. At KS5, we offer two courses: OCR Computer Science and Level 2 Certificate in IT User Skills (ECDL).

    The successful candidate will be joining a department that has earned a reputation for outstanding resources, a positive and stimulating learning environment and collaborative planning. The department is currently experiencing growth in enrolments at GCSE and A-Levels that any school would be proud of.

    Specific duties and responsibilities
    • Lead a successful department to ensure strong outcomes
    • Curriculum design at all key stages
    • Line manage staff and chair department meetings
    • Implement strategies to ensure outstanding teaching and learning across the department
    • Write and update policies in line with whole school initiatives
    • Exam entries and NEA administration
    • Lead on AAQs
    • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the needs of diverse learners
    • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
    • Support and mentor staff in their development
    • Treat all staff and students with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect, and at all times observing proper boundaries appropriate to a Head’s professional position
    • Work proactively and effectively in collaboration and partnership with learners, parents/carers, governors, other staff and external agencies in the best interests of students
