Head of Department - Design Technology job summary

Design and Technology at Outwood academy Valley is a practical, valuable and hugely popular subject. It enables students to actively contribute to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of themselves, within our community. It teaches how to take risks and so become more resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable. Students develop a critical understanding of the impact of design and technology on daily life and the wider world. Additionally, it provides excellent opportunities for students to develop and apply value judgments of an aesthetic, economic, moral, social, and technical nature both in their own designing and when evaluating the work of others.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a well-qualified, driven professional, who is an outstanding classroom practitioner, to join our Family of Schools. You will be an inspiring leader with the energy and creativity to lead and motivate a large team. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’.

You will be an excellent teacher with the ability to deliver at Post 16. You will also have the leadership experience and the ability to challenge individuals within your team whilst supporting them to achieve outstanding results.

We need a leader who is passionate about their subject and keen to drive their department to provide young people with the best possible education whatever their background or ability. If you care about the success of all students and are looking for a new challenge and to develop your leadership skills in order to make that success a reality, we would welcome your application.

You will be joining a highly innovative, inspirational and ambitious organisation, so we are seeking only outstanding candidates who can realise the highest possible quality of services to support our educational vision. Your strong leadership and ability to provide effective support to colleagues will enable the organisation to achieve the best possible outcomes for all of our students.
