Head of Department in Food Technology job summary

It’s time to work in a job you love; at Oasis Community Learning we are committed to delivering excellence for everyone, entitling our students, staff and community to an exceptional education. We believe in the power of inclusion. And nowhere more so than our Oasis Academy Sholing.

Our school community is close-knit, and we pride ourselves on offering a supportive environment where staff feel motivated and empowered. Strong relationships are at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that both students and staff thrive. We are committed to providing continued professional development for all staff, enabling everyone to grow their skills and realise their potential.

At Oasis Academy Sholing, we believe every student, regardless of their starting point or background, deserves an exceptional education. Our mission is to ensure that every young person reaches their full potential and receives nothing less than the best education we can offer.

The role of Head of Department in Food Technology offers an excellent opportunity for a Food Technology teacher to take their next step into leadership. You would be leading a subject that is very popular with students. Who knows, you could teach a future winner of The Great British Bake Off!

The department has two recently refurbished food rooms, a full time Food Technology technician and comprises three Food Technology teachers.

You’ll have an opportunity to bring innovation to one of our most exciting departments. We’re looking for someone ready to take ownership of developing outstanding practice and innovating our Food Technology offer. Our newly refurbished food rooms, along with provision of new equipment and resources, have helped to further encourage and inspire our students. This is a team ready to progress further with an enthusiastic and strategic leader.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is fully on-board with the academy vision
  • Supports the subject ethos of developing essential skills for life through the key stage 3 curriculum and can deliver continued success in key stage 4.
  • Can set high standards for teaching and learning and has a relentless approach to ensuring success for all students.

And most importantly...

  • Has a passion for cooking!

We are searching for somebody who has high expectations, a commitment to raising standards and up to date knowledge of teaching and learning.

Make sure you fill out an application today and submit to us before the deadline of date 12 noon Monday 23rd June 2025.

We are also very happy to answer any questions you may have, so please do not hesitate to get in touch.
