Head of Department: Personal Development job summary

We are seeking a forward-thinking and highly motivated individual to lead our Personal Development department. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to shape the vision, curriculum, and academic success of this subject within the school.

About the Role:
As Head of Personal Development, you will lead a committed team, oversee curriculum planning and delivery, and play a key role in supporting student achievement. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of both subjects, excellent classroom practice, and the ability to inspire staff and students alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the department effectively

  • Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment

  • Drive academic progress and outcomes across both subjects

  • Develop innovative and inclusive schemes of work

  • Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategic planning

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner with a proven track record in teaching Personal Development

  • Have experience of curriculum leadership or a readiness to take the next step in their career

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills

  • Be committed to student success and passionate about raising achievement
