What skills and experience we're looking for

As Head of Department, you will be responsible for:

  • Strategic leadership and management of the Design & Technology faculty
  • Deployment and coordination of staff across D&T, Food, and Engineering
  • Curriculum design and development
  • Driving improvements in teaching, learning, and student outcomes
  • Teaching Design and Technology (Product Design focus) and/or Engineering Design up to KS4
  • Leading a team of three experienced teachers, a Food Technician, and a D&T/Engineering Technician
  • Supporting whole-school improvement through collaboration with senior leaders
  • Acting as a reviewer in the school’s Appraisal process
  • Mentoring and coaching staff to build capacity and improve provision
  • Ensure effective communication within the department through line management and regular meetings, enabling staff to share ideas and concerns

The Crestwood School is a secondary school for children between the ages of 11 and 16. It is a coeducational establishment which was converted to academy status in March 2015. It is based in the town of Kingswinford, West Midlands, in Dudley. At present, the Crestwood School has around 645 students being educated at the establishment.

Crestwood School and Sixth Form exists to provide an unrivalled learning environment for the young people in our local and wider community. Through our teaching and pastoral care we aim to develop independent young people with a thirst for learning. We encourage students to strive to make more progress than is expected of them.
