Following our full graded Ofsted inspection in May 2024, St Mark’s CoE Academy achieved an Outstanding judgment in all areas of the framework. During the inspection, “pupils said the school’s values of Love, Hope and Trust are ‘not just words’ but are demonstrated by all members of the community.” Inspectors also reported that “working relationships between staff and pupils are warm, caring and respectful. This means that pupils behave exceptionally well and are very happy and safe.”

​St Mark’s Academy is offering an exceptional opportunity for an aspiring or experienced middle leader to lead a revived Design Technology department, within our transformational community. Working alongside a highly supportive senior leadership team, the Head of DT will be instrumental in creating and delivering an exciting DT offer, with rotation of product design, textiles and/or food.

​Rarely does such an opportunity arise for an aspirational experienced lead teacher to develop a highly sought after department and curriculum model, adding immediate impact to the whole school strategy. The post will commence in September 2026.

  • ​We are seeking to appoint a values driven individual and leader who: 

  • ​Is an outstanding practitioner, with demonstratable outcomes of successful teaching & learning at KS3, 4 and 5.

  • ​Has the ability to model excellent classroom practice and lead CPD for others to do the same is essential to this role 

  • ​Will do everything possible to demand the highest quality of lessons and outcomes in Design Technology subjects 

  • ​Will mentor, guide and support teachers that are new to the profession within the Design Technology department 

  • ​Is a skilful curriculum planner and understands how to sequence knowledge to transform the mind 

  • ​Believes in building strong relationships with our students and who is able to empower them to transform and live life in all its fullness.  

​The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced SLT and the privilege of inspiring specialist teachers within the team. 

​St Mark’s Church of England Academy is part of Anthem Schools Trust, a multi-academy trust serving over 8,000 children and young people in 15 schools across the East Midlands, London and the Thames Valley. ​
