Cardinal Griffin Catholic College is seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Head of English to lead our English department. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious, committed, and experienced teacher to play a key role in shaping the academic and personal development of our students.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of excellence in teaching and leadership, with the vision and drive to further develop a high-performing department and ensure outstanding outcomes for all learners.

About the role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and experienced English practitioner to shape the direction of English teaching and learning across the college. The successful candidate will:

  • Provide strong, visionary leadership for the English department
  • Drive outstanding teaching and learning across all key stages
  • Lead curriculum development, ensuring a broad, engaging and challenging offer
  • Use data effectively to raise attainment and progress outcomes
  • Support and develop staff through coaching and professional development
  • Play a key role in the wider leadership of the college

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an outstanding classroom practitionerHas leadership experience or demonstrates the potential for senior leadership
  • Has strong subject knowledge and a passion for English
  • Is committed to raising aspirations and achievement for all students
  • Has organised, resilient, and an excellent communicator
  • Will actively support the Catholic ethos of the school (applications are welcome from all faiths and none)
