Head of English job summary
Cardinal Griffin Catholic College is seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Head of English to lead our English department. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious, committed, and experienced teacher to play a key role in shaping the academic and personal development of our students.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of excellence in teaching and leadership, with the vision and drive to further develop a high-performing department and ensure outstanding outcomes for all learners.
About the role:
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and experienced English practitioner to shape the direction of English teaching and learning across the college. The successful candidate will:
- Provide strong, visionary leadership for the English department
- Drive outstanding teaching and learning across all key stages
- Lead curriculum development, ensuring a broad, engaging and challenging offer
- Use data effectively to raise attainment and progress outcomes
- Support and develop staff through coaching and professional development
- Play a key role in the wider leadership of the college
We are looking for someone who:
- Is an outstanding classroom practitionerHas leadership experience or demonstrates the potential for senior leadership
- Has strong subject knowledge and a passion for English
- Is committed to raising aspirations and achievement for all students
- Has organised, resilient, and an excellent communicator
- Will actively support the Catholic ethos of the school (applications are welcome from all faiths and none)
