King’s Group Academies is seeking an exceptional and inspiring leader to join our Trust as Head of English at an exciting time of growth and development. This is a key leadership role within the school, offering the opportunity to shape and drive excellence in English education across the curriculum, while contributing to a positive, inclusive and ambitious school culture.

As Head of English, you will lead a dedicated team of teachers, setting a clear vision for the department and ensuring consistently high standards of teaching and learning. You will be responsible for the strategic development of the English curriculum, fostering a love of language and literature, and ensuring all pupils achieve their full potential.

Working closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the Trust, you will monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching, using data and assessment effectively to inform improvement. You will support and develop your team through coaching, mentoring and professional development, creating a collaborative culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

You will establish a classroom and departmental environment where pupils feel safe, supported and challenged, and where high expectations, strong relationships and a passion for learning underpin success. You will also play a leading role in the wider life of the school, contributing to enrichment opportunities and whole-school improvement.

About You

You have a clear understanding of what constitutes outstanding teaching and learning in English, and you are skilled in using assessment and data to drive pupil progress and raise attainment. You are confident in leading, inspiring and developing others, fostering a culture of high expectations and collaboration.

You are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every pupil is valued and supported to succeed. You build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families, and contribute positively to the wider school community.
