What skills and experience we're looking for
The successful candidate will provide leadership and management of English in order to secure high quality teaching by all staff within the department. You will use your skills and experience to ensure the effective use of resources and the improvement of standards of learning and achievement of all pupils.
The key responsibilities of a Head of English include, but are not limited to:
- Teach a full timetable of English with requisite leadership time;
- Be enthusiastic and determined to achieve the very best outcomes;
- Be passionate about teaching and learning;
- Be committed to the school’s vision: “We put the success and happiness of our students at the heart of everything we do”;
- Embody and model our values of trust, resilience, excellence and kindness;
- Be dedicated to ensuring students continually improve;
- To lead continued improvement in English;
- To lead work on reviewing and improving the English curriculum;
- Manage the English department;
- Teach both KS4 and KS3;
- Support the school’s improvement of literacy;
- Take an active part in CPD which includes regular and deliberate practice.
